From humble beginnings in a driveway pop-up to three locations across Hampton Roads, Redwood Smoke Shack has been smokin’ up the Virginia BBQ scene—one brisket at a time.
Redwood Smoke Shack serves award-winning BBQ, having earned the title of Best BBQ in the area for multiple years in a row. Their dedication to quality and flavor has also gained national recognition, with Texas Monthly naming them one of the 50 Best Texas-Inspired BBQ Restaurants outside of Texas.
Born from the passion of Owner & Pitmaster Bob Roberts and his wife Lindsey, Redwood started as a weekend passion project and quickly grew into a local staple. The first brick-and-mortar location opened in Norfolk's historic Ghent district and is now known as the OG Redwood. Since then, we’ve brought the smoke to a satellite location in Virginia Beach and most recently opened our brand-new Suffolk location in February 2025.
At Redwood, we stay true to Texas BBQ traditions—that means big cuts, bold flavor, and real wood-fired pits using premium oak. Our meats are seasoned simply and smoked low and slow to let the quality shine. We work exclusively with top-tier suppliers and high-quality ingredients to bring you next-level brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and more.
